Winter's Last Hurrah! - Mini Middlemoon 2022

candle lit ice lanterns for Winter's Last Hurrah! Middlemoon 2022

It's lightly snowing in Minneapolis this morning, which means for the last time this winter, Mother Nature will make the world a little brighter and beautiful. It made Tom and I look at each other over our coffee and say, "Let's do it!" We will have a smaller, subdued, back-to-the-origins-of-Middlemoon Middlemoon Creekwalk. As you may have already noticed, we are calling it "Winter's Last Hurrah!"

Our winter has been busy right up to the end, so our coffers are bare. We have maybe 50 ice lanterns - or so - to offer. But right after we finish this blog, we will start to move them down to the creek and begin setting up around 2 and start lighting at 4ish. For long-time creekwalkers, all the ice lanterns we have are on the smaller side - hence, no castles, no ice bars, no large ice sculptures, but still magical.

WHEN: Tonight! Monday, March 14, 2022 at dusk

WHERE: Aim for the walking bridge that crosses Middlemoon Creek at 49th St. (Outlet of Lake Harriet near Northeast corner of Lynnhurst Park, Minneapolis MN.) This year, due to walking path conditions along the creek, luminaries will be congregated near the walking bridge.

WHY: Because we love our neighborhood! AND, as the winter sun shines brighter, we generally have a range of beautiful ice lanterns of all shapes and sizes that were extras from ice luminary installations or products of ice experiments that are gloriously sun-kissed. The magic of their beauty lies in their imperfection and they all deserve a moment in the limelight.

HELP? Absolutely!  We'll be working in the area from 2pm on. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated and it's fun!

SHARE ICE LANTERNS YOU HAVE MADE! Any size and shape of ice lantern is welcomed! Bring your own candles if you have them, but we'll have extra candles and matches. (Be kind to other contributors by installing your lanterns at least 10-15 feet from others unless you have asked :)

PHOTOS: If you happen to visit the creek tonight and capture some beautiful moments, please let us know at @wintercraftcommunity so we can share them with our ice luminary-loving friends and neighbors!

Sorry for the short notice, but let's embrace the spontaneity . . .

Enjoy the Glow!

Will there be a Middlemoon Creek Walk in 2023? If so, is there a date slated? Thank you for what you do! ~Laura
